IMR is discontinuing PB next year. I've gown to love it. Meters well, burns clean, burns "cool" (compared to something like TiteGroup.) Works great with boolits. I bought a stash, but it will eventually run out.

What's a good alternative with those qualities?

I haven't used PB since it was made by Dupont! What a blast from the past.
IME, it fell in between Greendot and Unique. I'd try Hogdon's Universal or perhaps WW-231/HP-38. I prefer WW-231 and have used it exclusively in my 38 and 9MM loads up until the election of Obummer, which has compelled me to broaden my horizons.

Don't know about the relative burn temps but for most of my handgun needs 231 and Universal work quite well. 231 is very fast and clean, Universal is a cleaner, better metering alternative (but not equivalent) to Unique. 296 and 2400 fill the bill for harder-hitting big bores.
Seems lots of old classic powders are being discontinued, I guess the makers are focusing on the faster-moving powders.
