Might not be a good idea to let dogs play with guns.... my experience has been that they don't aim well.... it could get ugly...

You should probably fine a better storage location for your plastic guns

I've heard of the right to arm bears, but not dogs.

That dog is obviously bored silly . . . . you need to take him for longer walks!

On the serious side . . . if the dog can get to it . . . so can a kid. A good lesson to all (and I'm including myself in this even though I don't have kids - I do have a fierce 10 pound poodle though) to know where you handgun is at all times and make sure it is "un-acessable to others".

Wonder if that will be covered under Glock's warranty? :-)

That was my first thought too. This was just a picture that a friend of mine sent me on FB. But I'd like to know if the gun was still functional after the dog enjoyed it.

On a side-note, I always know where all my guns are at all times... But, the human brain is prone to failing from time to time, it's probably a good idea to make a conscious effort think about where your firearms are located a couple of times a day. The gun in the picture is a victim of complacency.

I had a dog chew a set of original S&W M1917 grips....just the grips. I had removed them and rubbed blo on the grips. Must've tasted good I guess?

Laugh if you will, but when my lab was young (notorious chewers) she chewed up and empty glock 20 mag that I left on the bed. Actually managed to put it back together and it worked just fine, but never quite looked the same.

Gotta love those labs:

My wife and I have been married 42 years - we don't have children. During our marriage, we have had a total of 9 dogs - everything from a Basset to a Lab to Cairn Terriers to Poodles and mongrels. I don't think we have ever had a dog that has not destroyed at least one thing and it usually only happened once. One chewed on the corner of a book, one on a table leg, one on a rug, etc. and the Lab even chewed up a 4 foot X 1" nylon leash - in about 5 minute time span that we left he alone. I dosed her with hydrogen peroxide and finally she threw it up - it was in lengths of about 1 1/2" - all four feet of it! Dogs are great - they've been like our "kids" - but they do get bored or at some point, especially when puppies - get a sense of insecurity if left and as a result, "things" happen. But I wouldn't have traded any of ours for anything.

They are like kids so you sort of have to "child proof" things. I chuckles when I read the post about the "reason for a 1911". May not of damaged the pistol but I bet a dog could make fast work of a set of custom grips on one!

Paul105 - nice looking Lab! They certainly are a beautiful dog and devoted as heck. I took in a Lab/Shepherd rescue - looked more like a black Lab. She was a great dog and great company - I was crushed when I had to have her put down bur she had a rare cancer and "it was time" - still miss her greatly. I wasn't going to replace her but ended up taking in a little 10 pound "rescue" Poodle that had been abused. She's smart as a whip and has a neat personality. If I'm sitting down, she's in my lap. Hard to loose 'em . . . but there are always others out there that need a good loving home.

Show me a dog that can chew up a Ruger revolver and I will know of a dog to stay the heck away from.

When you have a dog that chews, especially teething puppies, try this. Cut some apple wood, about 12" X 1 1/2". Give it to the dog. They love the sweet taste, and won't chew on other things. They eventually wear it down to a nub, give them another.

NO DOG??? That's as silly as Alliant no longer selling to the public! No dog . . . Geez!

Ok, I just asked the dog about that and she says poo on you and she is always right, just ask her.

Proof dogs don't like guns with goofy grip angles and plastic either.

No dog!?! Who flushes and retrieves your birds?

My old dog loved shotguns if you racked one he came running. He liked his xd.

102199

He chewed his share of hats and shoes when he was a pup, but turned into the best dog I could hope for. Miss him everyday. He loved quail hunting with a passion.

This is how internet rumors get started. The facts are, Alliant is no longer selling powder to dogs at it's Doe Run facility.

Seen it several times, not a glock but a competitors gun. What could be better dogs like to chew, pistol is soft, smells like the ole man, and tastes salty from sweat so go for it . Got about one a year thru the shop.

Did you hear that in a gun store? You must be going to the wrong one because my gun store info has it that Doe Run only sells Alliant powder but discriminates against cats. :coffeecom

As soon as Pudge decides to stop playing games on the wife's IPad she will consider responding.

As for Doe Run, she thinks that is what happens all year long in the back yard. Sometimes we even see Buck Run but they seem to be a seasonal business.

Never had it happen to a Glock. Did have it happen to a Belgium made Browning 22 auto rifle. Puppies chewed the wood up bad. Had a horse scrape the hood of my corvette with its hoof. Animals can be destructive

A friend had ferrets and one of them chewed up the Hogue grips on his S&W model 60. Looked like they were stippled.

Afterwards he said he liked the non slip texture that was done and thought of offering a custom grip alteration service to those who needed stippled plastic grips!

Saw a Glock that the owner had taken apart to clean on the picnic table outside. something came up and he had to go inside to take care of it. He had several bull dogs. The got the frame down and made a play toy out of the frame. It was amazing to look at. looked a lot like a piece of well used black bubble gum!
