So alliant bullseye and unique are like hens teeth currently, accurate powders I haven't seen in a bit, tite group is spotty.

I am looking for a powder not listed above that works well in medium velocity 9,38,40, .380 and .45.

I have a couple months of bullseye and titegroup on hand for my business but am looking for some more available options. Business has really increased as of late and I don't want to have to stop production for powder backorders.

Any suggestions guys?

Shotgun powders are easier to get recently is there one that works well for the requirements above not listed?

I am all ears.

Winchester W231 or Hodgdon HP-38.

Winchester W231 or Hodgdon HP-38.

This would be my suggestion but they're hard to find as well. I would be looking at VV powders. I don't know the number off the top of my head. But they make an equivalent to W231/HP38. There is no shortage of VV powders by me.

I have turned to red dot or promo for most of my handgun cartridge loading. They work quite well.

Another for Red Dot and Promo. They can produce some good plinking ammo in the calibers you mentioned.

Awesome info. I want to keep an emergency stash on hand and will search these out ASAP. Local shotgun club orders once a month and these shotgun powders mentioned are Very available. It just might get me by. Thanks for the insight.

A third for Red Dot; I have been using is for all of the listed calibers except 40 S&W (I don't own a pistol in that caliber yet).

red dot and green dot are two that spring to mind. Red Dot is one of my "must have" powders.

Red Dot is bulkier (fills case better than most) and burns LOTS cleaner than Bullseye. I have an old bottle (20 years old) and have just recently discovered how well it works. Long shelf life also.

Ditto for red dot it will do it all .... But if you cant get it try any fast shotgun powder in the same range like IMR 700X Nitro 100 ... "the Load" is red dot. may want to go a grain or two less with nitro 100 but all those will get you by.

I don't know about .40 but AA#2 works well in the .38 and .45 for fairly light loads, want to try some in .380 at some point...

I use Ramshot Competition and Silouhette for soft pistol loads. Power Pistol for full strength pills. A#9 for magnum. TiteGroup is at the very bottom of my list.

Go to any local gun shop and spend some time looking at their powders and reading their reload books for alternative recipes. If you can't do that, write down all the powders they provide and go home to your computer. Do several searches and then return with a plan in hand. You may be surprised with what you could do.

Oh man, I hate to follow the crowd but...Red dot, and Universal if you can find it. I am finding red dot has worked better with the powder coated bullets for some reason. I am also a fan of blue dot because of the gas produced. It works better in my gas fed shotgun. For 9mm I load 3 grains of red dot behind a 120-125 grain boolit. Works great, sips powder, and is accurate. That get you something around 2333 rounds of 9mm out of a pound of powder. Add 42 pounds of lead for the 125 grain boolits, 2 bricks plus four boxes of primers, all those range pickup from the folks who believe reloading 9mm is a waste of time, and you have a recipe for cheap fun. I put together a 9mm AR with a 10.5" barrel, and I will easily go through 300-600 rounds in a session because it is so fun. I need to SBR a lower on a form 1 just so I can put the slidefire stock on it. What a hoot!
