I've loaded my first self-cast and lubed boolits. I tumbled lubed using 50/50 LLA and JPW on a 38 Special load - TL 358-158 SWC. Then I read in one of the stickys that tumble lube is marginal at best. So, before I start loading large quantities of 9mm 124 gr that have been tumble lubed the same way, how about an explanation. I have the ingredients to make Ben's Red, or one of the other lubes listed here, but would need to pan lube - and THAT seems to be a pain as well. Like the title says, I are kornfused.

Tumble lube often does work. Works very well for 38 special loads.

Only one way to know, load em up and shoot some. If the gun and target are happy then don't worry it.

I can only speak for 38 and 357magnum. Both tumble lube well and shoot fine in my revolvers. Give it a try, its not permanent. Lead will come off.

Load shoot repeat. If you like it repeat repeat repeat. Pan lube is a pain but it works too.

I have used tumble lube exclusively. It is my method.

Right - thanks guys. "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself" Off to the range this weekend, so we'll see.
