The cases formed from .30/30 tend to last longer in my experience. The headstamped .32-40 that I picked up when I got mine was unfired but old. I lost a bunch on the first firing and then annealed the remainder and haven't had any further problems.

The old .32-40 is no slouch. I'm shooting a reabarreled 336 Marlin and it can really sling them./beagle

I have a Marlin Model 1893 that was built in 1906 in 32-40 caliber . This rifle has a 26" half round half octagon barrel . And I got it from a dealer in Eynon Pennsylvania about 3 years ago !!!!

The following hunting season I used it to kill a dandy medium sized three point buck at about 45 yards .

At the time I was using the RCBS 32-170 FP GC mould and powered with 13 grains of XMP5744 .

Since then I have acquired a Lyman 321297 single cavity mould and it seems to like that bullet as well !

I gotta say of all the cartridges I mess with new or old the 32-40 has to be my favourite :drinks:

Oh, ya! The .32-40. Great to hear you're warming the barrel again.

My 26" octagon '94 is one of my favorite rifles to shoot. I'm looking to purchase a takedown in this caliber--They shoot so straight!

the only issues are sizing the booletts

it slugs at .3205 to.321

tried to run .323,no go:confused: tight chamber

sizing to .321 works great, have a bad one now and then

the rifle belonged to my mentor Mr Harvey,he bought from a hardware in croswell MI for $12.00 and a box of shells:drinks:

He used it for hunting crows on their farm
