While sorting through some .38 SPL brass given to me, I came upon a bunch labeled "WCC06". It looks like .38 but none of my searches have identified it as such. Anybody have a clue?

It sounds like G.I. .38 Spec. manufactured by Winchester (WCC) in 2006 (06). It is usually a little heavier walled than commercial brass.

I'm pretty sure he has it, I really like the G.I. brass in .38 spl., but all mine is headstamped WCC73-74! Mine lasts a long time. It does seem to be a bit heavier than commercial. It's good stuff.

Yep...milspec .38 Special. Trim to uniform length and it keeps on lasting./beagle

I have a few rounds of .38 Special WCC ammo. It apppears to be factory, yet the bullets appear to be traditional soft swaged .38 Special RN. Is there US military ammo that does not comply to the Hague accords? (Most people get it wrong, the Hague accords regulate military ammo. The Geneva convention is about the rights of POWs.)

Having fired a sizable quantity of M41 Ball (.38 Spl GI Ball ammo) during my 20 years of active duty, I assure you, the brass is by far the best part of the ammo! The ammo itself is underpowered and very inconsistent, even within the same box, let alone the same lot.

We used to shoot it up just so we could have the brass to reload!

I've seen a bunch of Winchester white box .45s with WCC & a year for the headstamp.

sometimes those cases will have what is called a military primer pocket crimp. without a P.P. swaging kit or reaming it's pretty hard to seat a new primer in the cases pocket.

I bought a case or 2 of it at a gov. auction several years ago from sunflower army ammo plant, which was ran by Hercules Powder. It was used with 148 gr, wc for target practice for the guards and for annual qualification. Like everyone else said it is good brass and the only 38spl that I use.
