I just picked up a barreled action for a rem matchmaster 513t the only problem I have is that qhen the bolt is closed it releases the firing pin. What do I need to do to fix this. THANKS.

Sounds like trigger issues. Could be as simple as a broken or weak spring. Could be as major as a complete new trigger needed. If your not comfortable learning all about the trigger and doing it yourself i'd say its gunsmith time. Although....now that I think about it a bit. It's possible the trigger is not held against the action when it is not in the stock. Maybe?

I want to learn all about it that is why I picked it up. I just don't know where to begin to figure out what needs tombe done. I also only got this for about $50 so if its too far gone I can get more than my money back in parts alone. The barrel has even been relinned and looks brand new.

I think the 513T has trigger adjustment. Just add a little more sear contact.

Looks like that screw is tightened down all the way and won't loosen.

Not very often. Mostly during the cold months for games.

Took it to the range and strapped it to me shooting rest the mag release isnt installed as I am waiting on the screw for it. Held the mag in to where it should be it fed, shot, and ejected perfectly. I am a happy camper got to take the steel wool to the barrel and action tonight and order some gunkote.

Got the blueing stripped off now to wait for the stock to get here to decide on a complete coating stock included or just the reciever and barrel. Decisions decisions decisions.:coffeecom

Sounds like you got the problem fixed. One thing I found out about the 500 series of rifles: a perfectly safe trigger can be made unsafe just by lubricating it in the wrong place.

Thanks I will keep that in mind. After I figured out what was wrong and it was fixed I hit the cocked action with my hang pretty hard a few times and the bolt stayed cocked so I am hoping I dont have to worry about it too much anymore.
