I have a Martini that was started as a project by an Uncle and never completed (he died) I now have the rifle and I am going to complete it. What i have is a stock, receiver with a drilled and tapped bracket on the left side. A new chrome moly 25 3/8 barrel contoured from .855 at the muzzle to 1.175 at the receiver. 38-55 cal with a 1 in 18 twist rate. I am going to have a gunsmith build a new forend, reblue all metal install a rubber recoil pad and install some sights. i would rather not reinvent the wheel so i am looking for suggestion on open sight and scopes. I own 1 Lyman junior target scope 8x and 2 Lyman 438's. i believe I will mainly lob chunks of lead at targets 2-3 hundred yards. Sorry for the length and thanks for your input.

38-55 drops off quite a lot when shooting to over 200. You may want to look at using a sloped mount so you have a head start by angling the scope mount or using angled rings so you have more adjustment range for elevation.

For non magnified sights the option that is fairly standard is a Soule style rear and globe style front.

I have a couple of Martini rifles with these old Mues sights mounted. There is enough adjustment to shoot to 500yards with the advantage of folding away neatly to the side of the action at day's end! This is a no "gunsmithing mount" so there is no chance of ruining a fine old rifle
