O.K. Here we go!...

I am shooting the 6.8mm (0.277” caliber) in the Contender 23” Carbine. But, all of the data out there is for jacketed bullets and most are 120 grain or less…

I have shot a few cast in my 6.8mm but I used Trail Boss and if one uses the 70% Formula, one does not require reloading data to be found in a manual…

I want to shoot the 130-270-FP at a velocity of 2000 or a tad less—NO DATA AT ALL is available…

But, there is data for the 270 Winchester, which of course, is 0.277” caliber…

The 270 Winchester case is approximately 1.97 times larger in case capacity to the case mouth—using water as the volume measuring material…

This equates to the 6.8mm volume being approximately 51% of the 270 Winchester…

You know where this is going!...

Can I take 270 Winchester starting-load data for a given weight bullet/boolit and reduce it by approximately 50% and have a starting load for the 6.8mm?...

Lee has equations for reducing loads for other calibers, but there is plenty of data for them and his equations mostly depend on that factor…

Any help here?...

What a nice cartridge the 6.8mm is and it is extremely accurate with the jacketed bullets I have been shooting from it, but I would like to shoot cast boolits from it for the most part…

Thanks…BCB

I have shot 18gr H4895 over an old ideal 134gr round nose and it even cycles in my intermediate length gas upper.
