I have a mould on order for .423 " cast bullets for my .404 Jeffery. I need to cast bullets for my .404 Jeffery. Is it safe to say all my measurements needed to swage and lube the bullets from this mould needs to come from the bullets out of this specific mould?

I noticed when receiving a 450 Lyman lube/sizing press the largest die diameter .429 and the smallest die .358 " but nothing near .421" that will fit my .404 Jeffery rifle bore....

Any suggestions will be welcomed.

Regards

Gert

Gert, some clarification is requested regarding terminology.

Bore is the minor diameter (land to land) and grooves the major dia. You said you needed .421 for your bore.

Swaging or sizing? They are different things.

Unless you have an older spec bbl @ 0.418", you will want a finished dia of 0.424" for lead in a modern 404jeffer/0.423" bore. Either way, it will have to be custom made. I think one of the guys here does Lyman dies. The other option is to find a .401" die & have a machinist open it up, but that is quite a bit of metal to remove.

lathe smith and buck shot both will make you a die to order.
magma engineering will make whatever you want too, if you have a star sizer.
