I "know" someone somewhere determined which granulations work best for different calibers ..

That said has anyone used Fg instead of FFg or FFFg in 45's ??

Aside from the granular size is there a difference in pressure or burn rates ??

Uneducated guess would be coarser is slower ??

Coarser is definitely slower. I've used Fg successfully in cartridges from .38-50 up to .45-110. You'll get lower velocity for a given weight powder with the coarser granulations, but it can give good accuracy. I use Fg exclusively in one of my .45-70's, 74 grains under a bullet that seats less than a quarter inch into the case.
