I recently posted about my first attempt at Cerakoting. Everything turned out great in my opinion. Not 100% perfect, but passable for anything I could have paid somebody to do. I'm just going to keep this page going to post pics of my projects as I do them.

First attempt at cerakoting using graphite black and magpul FDE on my AR15's. I ordered new stocks so I will post up pics once they are completed.

CZ83's before

one of the CZ83's after cerakoting in stainless and graphite black. I need to figure out what to do with the grips. I attempted to cerakote the original ones and they melted at 150 degrees. Cheap communist plastic!

Coming soon, OD Green Savage 300 win mag and stainless with pink grips cz83, pictures of my neighbor's AR15 I did in OD Green, and a friend's Beretta 96 in OD Green

Looking good....that CZ is just begging for some custom grips made out of one of the dense/dark tropical hardwoods IMO.

How does it wear? Much better than paint?

I know! Just gotta figure out which grips I want and if I'm making them or buying them

ALOT BETTER THAN "PAINT"......I had an N-Frame 357 that was done in cerracoat in order to hide some neglect by a previous neglector...the stuff is tough.

There is no comparison between cerakote and paint.

N10: there was a guy here who had gotten grips for his CZ's from somewhere, I've got the pics but lost the thread. Maybe someone will step up and say where they came from.

I found the website but it says the guy as Stage 4 skin cancer and isn't producing any more. it's too bad because he was making some pretty grips for these guns. They came in a variety of colors and textures.

I personally think some cocobolo wood would look good on yours. and hats off to you for your redo. the gun looks real nice and now I've got to have one too. They are much too good a pistol to ignore. I have a friend who has one and I have shot it. Easy gun to hit with.

I got my cz83's from terry at iammo.com. They ended up being about $240 each with shipping and transfer fees

Well, I decided to do my Ruger 22/45 Lite. It was originally this hideous gold anodized color. Now it is woods worthy!!! Had one little screw up with a punch drifting in the rear sight. The Punch slipped and nicked my slide.

Well, here is my 300 blackout. Not very black. Too much FDE. I'm going to cerakote the pistol grip and stock black. BTW, I love this Mission First Tactical buttstock. Only weighs between 5-6 ounces and locks up MUCH better than Magpul MOE stocks. The MFT grip is nice too. I just wanted to be different and go with something other than Magpul. The MFT gear is also made in the USA, as is Magpul.

Here is my wife's CZ83. Stainless with graphite black accents with her pink grips. Turned out pretty good......except I'm not a fan of pink.

I like the way the wife's gun turned out. The .300 BO should get a plains or marshland camo pattern since you already have a base color going... maybe keeping a few black accents; barrel, mag, maybe a cheek pad/riser.

So I've had a project shot gun sitting on the bench now for way too long as I look at the finishing possibilities- This technology has caught my eye- the big question for me is there are several rust pits that are a bit deep on the barrel & action- can you build up this coating to fill voids? Second, there is some reasonably nice engraving on the receiver that escaped the ravaged of rust- can you put it on thin enough to still see the engraving???

You could fill the rust pits with a metal filler material and sand it back down smooth the coat. Cerakote sticks to everything including wood. It's not like powder coating. As far as the engraving, if it is blasted correctly, you should be able to see the engravings through the finish. It will all be one color though.

Here I am bringing back an old thread again. I have been looking thru the forum trying to find correct info on cerakoting. I have a few questions because I have conflicting info I have found on the internet. Do you sand blast? Blast with glass? Blast with soda? Cleaning.... some say brake cleaner. Best place to purchase cerakoting materials? Hardener?

You can get cerakote from brownells or cerakote company. Blast with alox 100-120grit. Clean with acetone. Hardener comes with the cerakote.

Soak and blast.
I follow the instructions on the cerakote website. Surface prep is everything.

That looks cool as heck! I thought about using this stuff to finish my recent re-barrel project. I think it would have turned out looking at least as good as you pistol turned out. Budget constraints kept me from being able to go with cerakote. I ended up using powder coating.

I really like the way yours turned out. Next time I'll have to save up a little longer and go with the good stuff.
