I have a 8# jug of WC820. Does anybody use this for 44 mag, 240 gr LSWC? A good starting load? Thanks BHK;-)

Blackhawk Kid--Welcome to the forum. I suggest you go up to the top of the page where it says "advanced search" and type in wc820(no spaces). you will get a world of info about wc820, including the .44 mag. There are many lots of wc820 out there that have quite different burning rates, so you will do well to determine which burning rate you have and then proceed from there.

Ive used alot of WW 820 over the years in 30/20 , 357 mag , 44mag , 454 casull and lesser amounts in 38 super & 22 hornet , with excellent results in every senario . my lots are the older slow variaty, that i purchased in the late 1980s and early 1990s @ $7.00 a pound (a bit slower than 2400 but a bit faster than 296/H-110 ) here are my lot #47323 , 47276 and 47277.

WARNING !! there are some considerably faster lots out there that would be unsafe if loaded to the slow lots powder charge ! I think they may be called 820 FAST ?

For the 44 mag & 240 gr bullets try starting @18.0 grs ONLY IF YOU HAVE THE SAME LOT # as i do !! with a mag primer

I have some of the current WC820 (AA#9 speed) and find that WLP will not consistently light it off and 357 loads requires WSR primers.

My old slow (H110 speed) lot lights with any pistol primer I use.

YMMV
