You were lucky that none of them charged since you didn't have your bayonet! Overkill comes to mind with a 30 cal 180gr load but I bet it was fun! Good practice for bigger critters.

I love my Mosin more every time I use it. 180 gr lee .312 and 13 gr Unique. Cheap, quiet and fun.

I love my Mosins...if it starts to rain I can grab a tarp and "erect a tent" with the Mosin as the tent pole..Or if you want to wake up the neighbors you can shoot my "truck Mosin" with the "just" 18" bbl...Perfect loading for it is 1/4# of C-4 behind a 600 grain all bronze projectile....no dacron

....and my Dad gave me a hard time for using a 357Max pistol on gophers....a 360-180WFN at 2150 sure makes them really really dead though. :mrgreen:

I guess a rifle that withstood the siege at Stalingrad ought to be up to the task of defeating the gopher hordes.

Mosins are a lot of rifle for the money. I need to get mine out more nowadays.
