I have finally got a load for my 45-70 Shiloh that doesn't lead the barrel. Turns out my brass was too short. Stretched it out to the chamber, and perfect! No paper or lead rings anymore, no lead at all.
It took nearly three years of trying everything else before I got to this stage. I got to admit, I was starting to wonder if I ever would get there.
The load is 76 gr Goex ffg, .446 Baco Money patched with Seth Cole 8lb to bore diameter, with a .060 vegie wad then a grease cookie, then another .030 vegie wad.
I am still going to try other combinations of wads yet, but I am real happy to not have to mine lead anymore.

I would never have figured that out on my own. People like yourself have solutions to problems that aren't in the usual reloading books, so I just followed the herd.
