Tried this post in a different forum. Maybe I'll get a suggestion here. I currently shoot a Savage model 12 .308 heavy barrel using varget and 178gr match bullets. Can anyone suggest a mold that would work well for both calibers? The barrel has a 1/10 twist.

Thanks

I'm using the A31-165B in 308 -1:10 with good results. I plan to try it in BO - 1:9. ~ same nose profile (but FN) as 220 gr Rem bullet and base will still be in the neck.

What about a RCBS or Lee ?

I think either of the lee 312 spitzer bullets would work to try cheaply. There is a 155 and 160 gr with one being a tumble lube design and the other a conventional lube groove but I forget which is which. Being 312 diameter design they should size down easily even if they drop a little small.

I'd look at the HM-2 LEE mold I think they are getting a second run going.
it would do pretty well in both.

I use that same 165gr mold popper uses in my 308 and I will try it in my 7 twist 300 b.o. as well as the rcbs 30-165 silh, the lee 250gr plain base and a few others too [just cause I got them]

The Lee TL312-160 2R works well for me in 300 BLK, .308 Win and 7.62X54R.

I use the Lee C312-155 2R in the 300 BLK. I found I could get it in a 6-cavity. I'm running it at 1800 fps with no leading.

Gas checks or not?

Gas checks or not?
You're definitely gonna need a check to do that.
I shoot the 312-160 in that range, always checked.

I will pop in just to add to what has been said. The LEE C312-155 2R will fit the bill nicely. And as it just so happens there is finally a six cavity available. I would recommend you buy this while it is available.

Personally I use the HM Copy it seems to be a little bit more accurate for me. I think he is going to do a second run on these.

You will find that this bullet design will shoot well in any 30 cal rifle. I think we all owe Ed Harris a beer for coming up with it.

Its my main bullet for 300 black out ahead of H110, RL-7,
Also the only lead I shoot out of my Savage 10 308 ahead of 4227.
I size mine to .310 and gas check them.
