My wife gets Bountiful Baskets on a regular basis. Cheap good food with some oddities now and then. We have had Jicama the last few times and just used it as a salad vegetable. It is sweet, starchy and resembles in some ways a potato. I put the last one in a coleslaw and it has been great. I would probably not seek this out but it is kind of fun. Any other uses here?

Jicama's crisp texture and sweet, ... Like potatoes, jicama can be baked, boiled, steamed, braised, fried, creamed or mashed.

We get the baskets sometimes in the late winter and spring when the garden stuff is getting low.
You cant beat the amount of grub for the price.

Sometimes we get something and have no idea what it is. I dont know if we got a jicama or not.

They are like a cross btween a potato and apple. These things can be the size of a cantelope.

If you like stir fried foods, as the Chinese prepare them, it is the bomb! You can use it like water chestnuts, or even bamboo shoots. Works great, tastes great! Really a good food. Mild, bland taste.

It is good raw with peanut butter or hummus. Peel and slice into sticks.

Chill in fridge and then peel and slice into sticks roughly 1/2"x6", add fresh lemon juice and some tapatio sauce.

Chill, peel, chop into sticks, soak in lime juice, lightly salt. Or cut into chips/strips and use in stirfry or salads.
