Buddy went to a garage sale Saturday looking for advertised tools for sale. He saw 2 old muzzle loaders in a corner and asked what the price was for them. He was told $10 apiece. They were covered in grime and light rust. Took them home, one was a shotgun, the other is Wm. muir percussion rifle made either in 1863 or 1864 for the Union Army. Some years back he went to another garage sale and for $300 apiece went home with a M1d and a 308 Garand. Both in almost new condition.

I once bought an old Savage 22 auto loader at a garage sale for $15.00, but that's the only gun I ever got at a garage sale. A friend found me two steel barreled hammer double shotguns at a garage sale, one was a 12 gauge the other a 28 gauge, don't remember the price. When he called and asked me if I was interested I said buy them. Later he found an English 15 bore muzzle loading double shotgun at another sale and picked it up for me. He has a little better luck at finding such things than I do, but I won't complain.

I always stop and just ask, 'any firearms?' So far all I've seen was a paper cartridge Sharps replica and they wanted both arms & both legs.

I picked up an old double barreled 12 ga. it has Damascus steel and is in great shape for $100. Not a steal but i thought a good deal. It's made in Belgium by the Prize Machine Co., so now I have a 'Machine gun"

the one time a friend found a shotgun at a garage sale he called me I went right down there 20 minutes later , but the brother in law had shown up and remarked the prices on everything and what do you know everything stopped selling.

I've run into a few deals but not that often. I saw years ago it paid to keep some cash on hand or you miss out on gun deals. I picked up a G43 at a yard sale for $50 and didn't even know what it was at the time.

All I ever see at yard sales is worn out toys, clothes, kitchen junk and rusty tools. Where are these mystical junk sales with antique guns plied in corners?

I found this little gem last year at a flea market for 40 dollars. Didn't even haggle just pulled out the money and took it home. Best I can tell it was made around 1860 as a signal cannon or noise maker.

It's a .50 caliber Parrott, still need to get it appraised.
