Mold Upgrade

Does anyone take a new (or used) mold and flatten the mold top and sprue plate? I have and along with a little bit of beveling the sides that the sprue plate crosses find that they produce a better base on the boolit.

yup, on all of'em. I also clean up the handle grooves to insure free operation and also the handles where they contact the mould. Everything must work freely, no binding, no burrs. I also enlarge and rechamfer sprue holes that are too small. Just have to be sure no burrs are left on the under side of the sprue plate.
