Interesting Sharps at an auction today

1874 serial was C54954, not positive of the last three number. The 4 after the first 5 was stamped sideways. Marked JP Lower, the Denver distributor. Very fancy wood, brass crescent butt, pistol grip, pewter forearm tip, silver blade front sight, ladder rear sight. Stamped 40 cal 2 1/4. Bottlenecked chamber, 28-30 inch barrel length-- unsure though. Bore pristine. Excellent condition except a repaired wrist using some pieces of brass sheet on each side...nicely done. Anh clue what this is? Possible value so I can kick myself for not buying. :-)
