"B grade" whatever that means.

I just wanted to help spread the word in case y'all were looking for a $100 rifle.

When I think of all those racks of south American Mausers for $10.95 each when I was a teen. Or the $19.95 Lee-Enfields. Or twenty years ago when I could get M-1917's for $140 and Grands for $160, and I kick myself today, I may just buy a couple more.

Prices aren't gonna go down. Surplus ammo is still cheap. It's not hard to handload for, and some of them are darned good shooters.

Now all I have to do is decide if I need to add the the Mosins I already own, a Finn, an M-44, and a 91/30.

Yup it's as good of a dollar devaluing hedge as gold is (IMO-not investment advice).

The fed can't print rifles.

If the pictures are accurate, most of them are in reasonably good shape, except the shellac finishing is peeling off. I am guessing they're a pretty good buy. If I didn't already have 3, I'd get a couple.

Wow.... Purty cool... You could equip a whole squad for under 1000 bucks...

while i like AIM, selling some milsurp as grade B instead of say NRA Good, tends to make me very leary.

the metal looks good...I'll pass since I have 2 finn and 2 91/30 plus a nice m44...If I saw these locally and didn't hafta pay shipping I'd go for it.

My dad bought two of these last time they were on sale, nothing but good about em. Heck they almost shoot as well as my 59 dollar 91/30

They're still selling ones in excellent condition for only $30 more.

Yeah but if you are buying a few $30 adds up :-)
I'm getting a few as Xmas presents. I'll have time to fix the cosmetic issues and like refinishing anyway. So for me saving $60 and some elbow grease is worth it

If they are calling them as "B" grade, I would be very suspect of the bores. Stocks are easy to repair/refinish but bores are another problem altogether. A new barrel would really get expensive or even a re-bore would really run the cost up in a hurry. I would find one of the very good to excellent versions that came in a few months ago and go that route. Unless you have a good lath and can do the barrel work yourself, then my comments are no longer valid. my opinion anyway, james

Most of the Bore problems in a 91-30 tend to be at the muzzle. Just chop off 6" & recrown. Worked wonders for mine.

Only 6 inches? Heck, you could lop off a couple feet and still have a great gun! I bought a nice specimen with a hex receiver a few years ago for $139. There's just something about bringing that bad boy out and letting it roar next to a shooter with an AR.

Chop six inches ??? isn't that what they did to make those really sweet 91/59 carbines we saw a long time ago ?

Here's the action set into a stock 91/30 stock:

The Brake actually ADDS 3"+ to where I crowned the barrel.

What's that brake do to the noise level? Mine is already deafening.

Regular earplugs are fine. Really no worse than my 22" Savage .308
