I just traded some machine tooling to a buddy for a new un-used 458 barrel blank with a 1-22" twist, he has abandoned the HighWall project he started and was selling the parts he had bought or made. My question is how would a 1-22" twist work with 500+ grain bullets? I think the Marlin 1895 is 1-20" twist and supposedly they work ok with that but I have only fired a few of these rounds in my Marlins due to the need to load them as a single shot, just didn't seem to be worth the trouble. I would have much preferred a 1-18" twist since it works so well in my single shot rifle but in this case I had no choice since it is what it is and I got it for next to nothing, still I don't want to go to the trouble to install this thing only to find that the shorter 400 or smaller bullets are going to be the limit, opinions??

I think Trap Doors in 45/70 are 1/22" My TDs shoot 530gn boolits perty darn good and they seem to hold up to the longest range I have ever shot at and hit, 1000 yards.
I also think the 45/90 (express) was something like a 1/36" and was limited to about a 350gn bullet.
