What ladle do you guys recommend for casting heavy (700gr) boolits? I used a lyman and it seemed to work but it was on loan and I need to purchase my own. Been looking at another lyman, RCBS, or a rowell #1 or 2. Just using it for single cavity molds. Lead is WW and WWSn.

Thanks guys.

I don't cast anything quite that large, but I use the RCBS ladle. It has a bit more capacity than the Lyman, plus I like the fin on the bottom.

I have never used a Rowell Ladle, so can't give any advice on them.

Bottom pour Lee pot......only.....for lower costs.

My RCBS ladel does not hold enough usable metal to do a good job on big boolits. Tried it...don't like it.

Bottom pour is the only way to go.

I use a Rowell #1 for casting my 537 gr bullets and it works really well. The #2 I use for ingots and think it may be a bit larger than you would want for bullets. The #1 should have plenty of lead for your 700 grainers.

The Rowell #1 holds half a pound, the Rowell #2 holds a pound of lead. You cannot pressure pour with the Rowell. For using it to cast boolits the handle will need to be shortened.

RCBS works fine for my two cavity 480gr mold; however, I did enlarge the pour hole a bit to speed things up while the temp was there.

I think I'll try an RCBS and see how I like it. Thanks for all the input guys.

My RCBS ladle does a good job on 535gr Postells, but falls short on the 850gr .512. That takes the Rowell #1.

I drilled the orafice a little larger of my Lyman ladle to help fill 500gr cavity faster. I believe the Lyman or the RCBS will work better on larger bullets if drilled larger.
