I have been playing with a new set of .357 dies and came up with a 220 grain soft point bullet made with a 9mm case as the bullet jacket. As the dies have a large ejection pin, it has a flat point on the front that I thought might be good for a 35 Remington lever action. If someone is willing to test these I'll send you the 25 that I have made up at the moment.

I'd like too, but have been under the weather, and the weather has been so bad I haven't been able to get to the range this year. POOH! It looks nice! mikey

I am game too, and probably not too far from you (Western Colorado). Have a 356 win or a 357max rifle

I have a hungry 357 maxi. eats everything I can find. Still looking for the perfect bullet.(they all seem to work pretty well). would like to try some as heavy as you made.

Same question, different rifle... Ruger 77/357 mag, usually shooting 250 grain subsonics in 38 spl cases. If these are viable in it I'm definitely interested. Then I'd have someone to send the 9mm brass to that I don't reload.

Got mine today. Thanks. These made both eyes open wide. The initial testing with my rifle indicates 180's might be better. If you had .380 cases, could you make a light bullet since the case is shorter?

Thanks for the time and effort.

Hiram,

Thanks for testing them. I have a good 180 grain bullet made with a 9mm case and a 115 grain 32 cal cast bullet. This is the first bullet starting far left. 2nd from the left is a 180 grain soft point made with a .380 case. I haven't figured out a way to keep these consistent yet as the case mouth has been buckling as I seat the core. The next bullet is a 158 grain hollow point made with a .380 case. Last I have another 158 grain hollow point with an XTP like folded jacket. This is what I have come up with so far.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/02/azy5u8yn.jpg

Have the bullets you sent, now if the wind will just stop blowing so much I might make it to the range. Maybe Friday

On second thought, I'll pass. I'm not going to have the time to do any load development for a few months.

I would be very interested in hearing how they work for you on deer. Please keep us posted if you do.

Received mine yesterday. Noticed the length on these is not real consistent, even among bullets made from brass of the same headstamp.
Will try to get some weighed in a day or so, then on to loading.

They look good so far. Have you tried any to see what kind of expansion you get?

I have a 35 whelen that it may be fun to try in. :)

These shoot quite well in both my .35 Rem as well as my .357 Herrett. When I get the change I'll run them into some ballistics gel and see how they do for expansion.

So what dies were used to make these? They look really nice!

A set of Richard Corbin's Walnut Hill dies. To make the pistol bullets I also used a BT Sniper notching die.

I thought about these in my 35Rem Contender and the 35 Whelen, but 25 bullets does NOT seem like enough to do a decent test! I usually go thru that many working up a load. Then there's penetration testing! But thanks for the effort.

Maybe he'll get set up to sell them, or possibly a trade could be arranged.

I'm not willing to sell them since I don't have the appropriate license, however, I am always up for a good trade for these or any of the other .357 pistol bullets that I come up with.

As an update, I've had several PM's with results of testing.

Did not work so well in a 356 Win as there was a 7 inch vertical spread.

357 Max Ruger #1 worked o.k. for paper punching, throwing out 2 outliers the group was about 3.5 inches.

Sounds like they did not work so well in a 357 max rolling block.

Seem to work fairly well (did not get a group size) in 2 different 35 Rem rifles.

I should get reports from a couple of other people using several other different guns and will report on their results as well.
