I picked up some brass (223) the range without primers in it.
I just can't figure any circumstance that leads to deprimed brass laying around AT the shooting range. Plenty of it pays around my reloading room, but I just am curious about what the story is there.
Any thoughts?
someone may have over swaged the primer pockets

Test one out to see if it will hold a primer.....

Somebody rejected for whatever reason. Sometimes people don't want to mess around with military brass with crimped brass or maybe an odd head stamp that the guy only had a few of.....Worst case scenario brass loaded too many times and might be near end of life. Test carefully, evaluate, use.......or scrap bucket. afish4570

You don't say how many cases you found, MIGHT be a kid with a hole in his pocket and a hand full of daddy's toys. I'd check them care fully before loading and shooting them.
