Picked up my new toy...Uberti/Cimarron Low-Wall in .32-20...this morning. First thing, once I got it home, I slugged the bore and - surprise, surprise - it actually IS a .32-20 and NOT a '.30-20' (as I was informed by Cimarron Customer Service). Groove dia. measures dead-on .310 (1-20 twist).

I've got brass and dies on the way but would welcome suggestions for a mould. Looking at what's available 'off-the-shelf', I'm thinking the RCBS 310-120RN, the Saeco #322 (if I can find one), or the Lyman 311008 all should work but I'm a little shy about buying a new Lyman due to the 'undersize' issues with many of their current production moulds. Anyone have any experience with any of these in the .32-20? Or, can anyone suggest an alternative? I've never used any of the moulds made by our forum sponsors but I'm willing to consider recommendations if someone has hands-on experience with a suitable design from one of them.

It's a bit lighter, but the RCBS 98 Gr. SWC shoots very well out of 4 S&W revolvers and my Marlin 1894 CL. I've got a number of 5 shot 1/2" 50 yd. groups from the rifle with iron sights, using several different powders. Accuracy starts to fall off above 1,600 fps., but I think that is reasonable for a plain base boolit.

I have had good results with the Lyman 311316 with gas check.

I got a Lyman 311316 before I even heard of a 32-20 ( a guy had it used with handles and I had a few lyman moulds with no handles so I bought it for $15 ) now its one of my favourite moulds.

That is a good one too. I recently acquired one and it works nicely in my 32 mags

My first choice is a H&G number sixty-seven . My other favorite is the RCBS 32-98-SWC , it drops from my mould at just over .314" so that might be a bit large for your rifle . Very easy to cast good bullets with , to bad RCBS doesn't make four cavity moulds .

The Lyman/Ideal 311410 is a excellent choice for a rifle. It's made for the M1 carbine and weights 130 gr. It also has the best ogive shape (highest BC) for bullets in this range.

This one looks good to me but not much interest so far. Also waiting to see if NOE will run something with a PB soon.

Send Al an email or PM and let him know what you want. He may have a run "in the works", or you may prompt him to make a few for stock. They generally cast .001" over spec, so if you need .312", don't be afraid to order a 311008. If you want a 311316 plainbase, ASK. It might not be listed, but he has made runs of stuff not listed in his stock.

Other options are to get something from Accurate Molds or darw your own and order from Mountain Molds.

I've posted my suggestion on the NOE thread under "active group buys". I'll send him an e-mail. I like some of Tom's designs but the HM2 design is intriguing. It seems the .32-20 mould hunger around here has been satisfied for now and I'll probably just need to be patient until the pent-up demand reaches a level that makes it feasible for a run. I have other projects and it'll soon be too hot around here to shoot a rifle.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and good info on available sources. Looks like, for now, I'm going with the Lyman311008...mainly 'cause I fell into one by, more or less, dumb luck. Was out at our club range yesterday and ran into a fellow member (a non-caster) whom I recalled had, a couple years back, acquired a bunch of casting stuff when he purchased a deceased member's guns and reloading gear from the widow. Stopped by his home after we finished shooting and a half-hour rummaging through his 'tradin' material' turned up a nearly mint DC 311008...wrapped with preservative paper in it's original black & white box. A bit of dickerin' and it came home with me so, once my dies and brass show up, looks like I'm good to go.

NOE 311008 115 grain flat nose works well for me.

I guess I'm spoiled. It's only a single cavity but I have an original Winchester mold - pre -008.

Me too , I have the 3118.
My 100+ years old Marlin 1894 32-20 slugs at a big .313 ( it's still got decent rifling but it's a little tired ).
I asked Tom at Accurate to make me a .315"- 115gn mould and the old fella loves it .

Have a good one ...:bigsmyl2:

Congrats! Hope it works out for you. Midway had some RP brass a few weeks ago.

How big a boolit does your 3118 drop? May be interested in it for my 1902 vintage 1892 if it drops @ .313. It has a .312 bore and a .314 is a little tight in my revolver's chambers.

TX, off hand I can't recall the size, it's been a while since I used it but I will try and dig up some of the boolits and give them a quick measure.

It might take a while as my shed is a real wreck right now( we just moved ,,,, again..[smilie=l:).

Understood, and thanks. My shed is two walls, a frame and a floor at the moment. Maybe this year.
