Have been using Crossman pellets. the hollow point in .177 and the 22. purchased some benjiman pellets with the Jim Shockley add on the pkg that seem to be the same. wondering if the pellets are made in the same place. the naked eye can't tell the difference. I know these are not top of the line but the price is right..... $9.99 for a tin of 750. the crossmans were tin of 500 for $6.49. the crossmans have increased in price in the past week to $7.99. my 177 will shoot 10 in a quarter size group at 25 yds. and paint balls at 20yds is no problem. this seems reasonable accuracy for plinking. may be time to buy the Benjimans . anyone know or have opinions. all will be welcome.

I know I may be different but I like to find what's most accurate for my rifle and use that. It's a "train as you fight" sorta thing but to each their own. I like the JSB diablo match kings but this looks like a good deal: http://www.pyramydair.com/s/p/Crosman_Premier_Light_177_Cal_7_9_Grains_Domed_125 0ct/118

Plus, if you buy 3 the 4th is free on most of their pellets.

The Crosman 177 Walmart 250 Tin pointed and Walmart 500 Ct 14.3 22 HP's shoot well enough for most of my shooting. Groups about the size you mention is what I also get.One of my rifles likes the JSB 8.44g Exact and wont shoot he cheap ,177 Crosmans though. The Crosman Premiers you buy in brown boxes bulk packed are all from one die while the tins are from mixed dies I understand.

Dryball, calculator says bulk pack of 1250 cost .021 ea. before shipping. 500 in a tin at wallyworld is .015ea before tax. most of my shooting is plinking at golf balls at 50yds and paintballs at 20yds. the pellets I am using do pretty good. don't know if I can shoot better than this. old eyes and the gun is not a match gun so ignorantly satisfied at this point. Thinking of filling a rat hole as prices will rise. several years I bought a Diana 48 and the crossmans were $3.50 for 500 today they are nearly $8. The best deal I can find locally is the Benjiman at $9.99 for 750. if they come from the same mfg. as the Crossman then I may want make an investment. we plink almost everyday and that takes 50+ pellets.
Harry. the one die theory may add to the quality. not far enough into this pcp so far. No local place to buy higher quality pellets and don't want to make large investment in different pellets to find out that the gun does not like most of them or maybe likes all of them. any thoughts on the two I am looking at coming from the same place?

Doc,
I can't remember where but I'm sure a google search would reveal...there are a couple places out there that sell variety/multi packs of pellets. As I remember, they were reasonable. They are packed with several different weights and brands of pellets so the "testing cost" could be mitigated somewhat. I hear where you're commin from. Generally, as I understand, a little heavier pellet will yield better accuracy.

If pellet testing is of interest, check out 10pt9.com

Larry Sawyer sells test lots of R-10's, H&N and a few other top brands. The lots are $1.50 for 50 pellets. Tins are $15 for 500. We test 10-20 lots a year and go thru 10-15k pellets for my daughter. There are huge discussions out there on pellet testing but I believe there is a significant difference at 10 meters. Just in 10 lots you will see groups double or triple in size between lots and brands.

Nice chart. I purchase mostly the Crosman Premium and have had good luck with them of late. I don't get a lot of deformities and seem to get good accuracy:

Are the three I've been using. I've shot a few rats, which are tough, and had one shot kills using my Crosman 1322 pistol.
