I lieu of Barbies GF jumping on one of our saddles and doing "Ride Em Cowgirl" and the saddle sliding off the boxes and her almost putting her head through the glass curio cabinet I have decided to resurrect this project.
Here are a few concept saddle racks to give me a few idea. I still have tons of oak left over from my other project a few years ago that is fully stabilized for building with.

Measures: 22"W x 29"D x 38"H
16 inch wide.

Here are the styles I just did. All squared up and edged ready to have the groove cut to accept the loose panel installed before glueing.

Here are the inside panels along with a couple round to it's.

Nice looking saddle racks. They don't look like they belong out in a barn.

Looks like this is the one everyone liked. I make some modifications to it seeing the top was end grain butt jointed which is incorrect.
Looks like we have enough material for 4 racks.

The base/feet ^^^^ will be mortise and tenoned on and the wedges driven in from the bottom.

These will be for my display saddles. We have more than we can ride right now.

I'm thinking I like the idea of the scrolled top piece to keep the saddle from sliding off.

Yea we picked that goofy rubber snake up on a package deal at an antique store years ago. It needs a new home though.

I have no use whatsoever for something like this, however those are so cool it literally slays me! I never knew such a thing existed although I have been in a saddle shop I just never looked below the saddles which were artwork enough for me. Love the way those places smell!

I personally (not knowing anything about this subject) really like the ones with the backbones on the top, I assume so that the saddle won't slide off on the floor with the "rider" in tow.

Very cool stuff. good to see you have risen from the dead.

I have Jeeps instead.

Duke seems lately you are on a roll. Saddle racks, cabinets for haulin stuff, leatherwork. and of course your refurbing those M14 stocks. Your craft amazes me, and this is coming from a guy who needs a straight line guide to cut a straight line. Frank

I have been in tack rooms that look better than my house. I have also been in horse stables that look better than my house and the horses get better medical attention than myself. ;) Here's a few via a quick internet search. http://www.horsenation.com/2013/02/22/19-tack-rooms-that-are-nicer-than-your-house/

Although I could just purchase this premium piece of work. What a peach this is. http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/grd/4343146023.html

Anyway the plan is to eventually have a few half seat saddles I have made myself in our home decor and the reason is just because I want to. lol
We will though have plenty of saddles for riding and horse packing.

This is really nice along with the saddle racks but I have no idea how 3 115 pound 5'6" squirts including the wife would be able to lift 45 pounds of saddle over there heads. lol

Thanks for the nice compliment sir but these are really very simple and basic home projects I cobbled together with a minimum amount of equipment that anyone can do if they want to apply themselves. Problem I find is the quality of work these days is shoddy and way over priced so I have to make most things myself.
Also none of the peculiar items I fabricate come with an instruction manual or plans for that matter so you yourself can just pull them out of a hat as I do.
I did a internet search in lieu of the Ukrainian situation and found images of wonderful architecture that make my little projects look pathetic. : (
In Europe they build monuments that last thousands of years, I build shipping crates and rattle can fiberglass stocks that are older than I.

Buckshot's tackroom is probably too highfalutin for my saddle rack.

Nice work Duke!

When I move to AZ I'll get me a horse, saddle, and one of them new fangled saddle holder things. I will admit at first sighting I thought maybe you had manufactured a new sex toy for the bedroom.

I should have kept my fancy saddle and I could have bought one of Dukes fine examples of perfect workmanship to set it on.

Something made from Cedar and vented like this would be more conducive to a barn.

Here are the upper and lower mullions dry fit. The part that sticks down is the Tenon.
This will go into a mortise on the base/foot.

Buckshot is smarter than the average bear. He rides a critter that is often much superior to a horse... A mule
