Getting prepped to help my boys load 9mm, 120gr Hardcast ($36/500) for their 3-Gun events. I'm thinkin' Trail Boss would be good for metering & case filling for safety purposes. I saw a friends sample & it's a fine tubular shape. Wonder if too much leaks past Dillon 550B Small Charge bar? What do you like best, if supply was not a problem, then if supply is a problem. I have 3# Unique available, but would think flake powder is not advisable for progressive loading?!?

Thanks for watching.

TrailBoss I wouldn't use in this application. Unique works well. 9mm case will fill with most powders. My wife loads 9mm with Unique on the 550.

Take care

Green dot and 7625 are my favorites. Both meter good.

My 550 will throw Unique + or - a tenth of a grain, and I like the economy/ performance thus far, ~1.5k rounds into the combo. Im loading 147 gn 9mm

3.5 grains Bullseye for the win!

I prefer Bullseye, but also use Unique for 9mm. No problems using either in a Dillon powder dump on a 550b.

If you have Trail Boss, it will work. Probably will take a case full. Last time I tried it in 9mm. I loaded them light and ran them in a Hipoint carbine. They shot fine .

Normally I will use WSF or Unique.

Blue Dot does well for my tools.

I would try the powders you have and see which your sons like better. If neither powder works out then you may have to see what your local powder supply has on hand.

I use 700X for my light .44 Special and 45 Colt. Its very accurate and clean burning but I don't know how well the flakes will meter in such a small case. I found that my Lee autodisk doesn't meter it very well below about 4.5gr when I tried that powder for my 38 Special.

Accurate #5 or #7 would probably work very nicely and they meter extremely well. Very good choice for progressive presses.

Just checked the latest data on the Accurate website and it lists lead bullet data for 124gr slugs using Accurate #2, #5, and #7. The have Ramshot powders listed as well but I didn't check for cast data on those. I would probably try #2 first as I assume your not looking for max velocity on your target ammo.

From years of experince with the 9mm & 38 super with cast boolets i would use WSF, Herco or Power Pistol as the powders i would use for the best accuracy .
Also try bullets sized to at least .357 dia or sometimes larger. and the TC boolet style seem to be more accurate than RN styles.at least from my handguns , i have a Saeco-145gr swc, 122gr rn .122gr tc and a RCBS 125 gr rn gc.
