I have several Contender frames
So I am not interested in buying a new frame just to use the new G2 barrels

How much stronger is the new G2 compaired to a few year old Contender frame ?

I read somewhere , I could just grind the nub or what ever you call it , off the barrel to use it on my frames .
BS or true ?

Not interested in running tons of high recoil rounds , but a few may be fun

I understand fun
I have 1 of the original 14" 45/70 barrels with out the brake
I have shot a lot of Trap Door loads , some Marlin loads and 5 Ruger #1 loads
The Ruger loads took 4 trips to the range and a sucker to fire the last 1

The G2 barrels are supposed to fit the older 'tender frames . I have 3 of the 23" G-2 barrels and they work fine on the older frame that I have on a stock. I think it's the grips and stocks that are not interchangeable between the original and G-2 frames .

From what I've read, the "nub" is only on the muzzleloader barrels. But I've only owned one older Contender and didn't have it long enough to count. The G2 is much more like a miniature Encore than are the older Contenders.

Older Contenders and the G2 take the same bbls. As mentioned elsewhere the differences are in how they open and needing to open to cock the old models. Also, the older ones have nicer triggers and are adjustable.
