If a shade tree bubba smith were to make a derringer out of say a 8mm military barrel welded together or say a 410 barrel off a rifle(not a shotgun thin tube) welded together or attaching to 38spl barrels, obviously he wanted to mess around with blackpowder loads, I wonder how he might have worked the hammer to switch from top to bottom barrel?
Rainy weather brings out the stupidist thinking patterns in some of us!

Turn barrel.
I thought he might try a pivot frame, I do have a pivot action for a rifle almost done and I was thinking of the more traditional approach.A three ply sandwhich hammer would allow a thingy to pivot for the hammer to strike. A turn barrel would be more simple.

Maybe something simple like the Springfield M6 hammer selector. It is bulky but simple. You pull up or push down on the round knurled knob to select upper or lower barrel.

Make it a single shot. Still qualifies as a Derringer.

Try Google Patent search. Here is a start, note each patent has a list of referenced patents and those have references. For example a search on Derringer brought up a list of patents including the first two listed below. The second one listed referenced the third and that one has many other patents listed so if you look all of those up and the ones they list you will have enough ideas to make lots of things.

Amazing workmanship on that spanish video. Made with low tech equipment and great knowledge.

Nice video, and the gubbamint is so worried about plastic ones... forgetting that craftsmen have been building things by hand for centuries....

Same thing, just a lot faster because it would need a lot less filing...

Can't be terribly complicated. The $100 cobra derringer seems to work fine.
Also leinad/cobray/excalibur derringers have a manual barrel selector if i remember right. I'm sure you can find the plans for those online to look at. Or even buy one of the kits pretty cheap.
