So I had a guy come by and ask about ammo.....his old ammo.....He said he had some old 38 special that had a US stamp on the brass and on the primers....anyone see this and know what it is?

yea but on the primers? I have never heard of that before.
Never heard of primers being stamped. That's interesting.
US Headstamp is The United States Cartridge Co in business until 1938 when it was bought by Winchester/Western later Winchester only.

I don't know when it was done, but I've seen lots of USCC ammo with primers like that.

So any indication as to the purpose of the stamped primer....was it special issue dates etc...

From a liability stand point this is a great idea. I don't think I could find a co that would pre stamp their primers though. Hmmm

Stamped when the primer cup is formed; before primer is added. One way to ensure it's a factory loaded round.
