Booliteers,

Several years ago I went to the Hornady LnL bushing system for all of the dies I use on a single stage press. If you've used this system, you know how hard it is to get the bushing screwed into the press tightly. Well, I just got a new piece of tooling and had to break it in. It's a Super Spacer, an indexing fixture for use with a milling machine that has a lathe chuck on it. After some measuring I converted a piece of old barrel leftover into a tool to TIGHTEN that bushing into the press. It should make moving the bushing between the RCII and the Summit easier, too.

Another version, works the same as the original.

I just bought an RCBS Summit press and ran into exactly the problem that your wrench solves. So make me one....and I'll be your first customer. I'm serious....

The more I stare at that the more I want/need one. I can't believe Hornady doesn't make one. After converting my RCBS Summit, there is a clear need.

Looks very nice. I think you have a market for that tool. What machine are you using to create it?

why not just weld a t handle on a lock and ioad insert

Don't move the CONVERSION BUSHING between presses,

buy another one, they're only about $12.

I'd till like to have a wrench to get it tight in the first place.

If you get it from Cabela's, it comes with 6 bushings for $20. You can't get the bushings that cheap alone. If you load many calibers you can't have too many bushings.
I take a Hornady die in a l-n-l bushing and insert it from the bottom to engage the splines in the conversion bushing. A wrench on the lock ring flats and it tightens the conversion bushing enough so I've never had one come loose.
The wrench is a good idea though.

Why didn't I realize that?!!
I just bought the ten pack for $43... Looks like I'll return it and get two conversions. I'll have twelve instead of ten, have two conversions to play with, and come out $3 ahead!

Thanks. I was just trying to overcome the battle between getting the bushing screwed in and being able to back off a die hex nut without breaking the bushing loose. The metal was turned to the correct diameter on a lathe and the splines were cut on a milling machine using a super spacer to index the workpiece.

I wasn't sure the insert was a weldable metal.

I probably will but I can't buy anything locally beyond the most basic reloading components. Everything has to be ordered so I improvised. Besides, it was fun to make it.
