So I'm going to cut straight to the point. Could you load .41 Mag boolits into brass .410 shotgun cases?
I know there will be snags and I think I know where these would be but I can't help thinking of my own special Nitro Express round.
Work up the powder and get it pushing a 265 grain GC boolit. Could be fun/fatal

Would probably be very close in duplicating 40-82 or 40-90 ballistics.

Wasn't familiar with 40-90 sharps' ballistics but after a quick google I'm impressed. Nearly 1500 fps with 370 grain using black powder. Hmmm so it'd be powerful then :)

Seems it has been done out of a Judge with mediocre accuracy (2-3"@25 yards)
Also the brass cases can't take much more than plastic apparently so this may be a non-starter

Measure the base of the case. I'm betting the 410 case will be closer to 45 colt than 41 mag.

Depressing velocities at adequate pressure!

Lack of rifling and the full-choke typical of .410 shotguns would be a couple of possible hurdles. Now a .410"-ish pure lead round ball or even a Minie (sp?) with a fat wad of crumpled tissue paper behind it and a stiff load of Herco could be fun.....

Well the plan would be t try the loads in a full choke .410 and if were getting the muzzle energy I need I'd get a rifled barrel made. The problem is that .410 slug only kicks out approximately 600 ft/lbs. To be deer legal in the UK it's 1700 minimum. I just don't think it'll make it.

Don't they make 410 shotgun slugs already? I don't shoot .410 so IDK. What are you gonna shoot it out of?

Slugs for the .410 usually run around 90 grains, iirc.
Not much power there.

1700 ft-lbs of energy to kill a deer?
Wow.

They do but as I mention they are low on power. Basically I'm thinking bout experimenting with my own semi wildcat.

Yeah I know right! It's 1000 ft/lbs on our smallest deer (muntjac and Chinese water deer) but my .357 or .223 can do that. Fancy my 'own' cartridge for the bigger stuff. Just to be different
