View Full Version : Freeland hooked buttplate adapted for Remington 540X buttplate system

In my ceaseless wanderings to and fro on the earth, I snagged a modified Freeland hooked buttplate, that I'm pretty sure was modified. The inner slot looks like the cutter was jumping since the sides of the .260 slot are uneven. The sides of the .500 width cut are pretty smooth.

You can't really see it, but "AL FREELAND" is stamped to the left of the slot. The line of letters are all evenly spaced and exactly lined up (but not parallel to the slot), so if someone was trying to make a knock-off, they spend some money on steel letters and a type holder.

Comparing my later, injected rubber/plastic buttplate moulded onto a steel sheet, the washer is bigger, but it can push the rubber away. The washer diameter is more important with the aluminum.
