Well I took the plunge and cerakoted two ar15's over the last couple days. I think it turned out ok so far. I have to blast down and recoat my barrels because I messed them up. I'll post updated pics once they are fully put together. It's a lot of work but I really like the cerakote.

I think they turned out pretty good. I'm happy and plan to continue to cerakote some other rifles in the near future

How do you prep the aluminum surfaces before you spray? Do they have to be down to bare metal?

You can just rough up the anodizing with 120grit aluminum oxide blasting media but the anodizing on my receivers was pretty thin so I just took it down to metal

turned out well. the black compliments the color.
can't wait to see the completed project
