The priming post has a tit on it that limits the sleeve movement, and the sleeve has a window in it that contacts the tit as the spring is compressed.

I have two large primer posts with two different window heights. One is a large window and allows complete primer insertion. The other is a narrow window that does not allow complete primer insertion.

What is the purpose of the one with the narrow window?

Can't really picture what you're describing, but if it limits primer insertion my guess would be berdan primer???

I have twelve of the Lyman punches, 7 large and 5 small, Just measured them and all the large are .313" and the small are .255". Can't comment on why one of your large units is small.

Wayne off the top of my head I don't know. There is a shotgun primer and you may have one. But that is just a guess at this point.

Wayne I just checked the collection and found one small punch with a short window. It still works as designed though.

Mine is so short that the primer is only about half seated. I had to put the other one in to finish seating and get the case out of the shell holder.
