This looks like it would be a lot of fun. I did a little research, and there is some hogs in the very northwest corner of my state...not very many though. I'm thinking that Texas or New Mexico would be a better bet. I don't mind the travel. Can anyone here point me in the direction of a reputable Ranch/Guide service in N.M. or Texas? I'd like to go before it gets too danged hot.

I can't help you with guide info, but you hear about Texas' hog problem. Yeah, there are plenty of hogs, but they're not a problem! If they were such a problem, these ranchers and farmers would let you hunt them, but they all want $100 a day to help them with their "problem"! I've given up !

Funny you mention that...I read an article about the hog problem in New Mexico. They passed a law against transport of animals, and guided hunts of hogs. As soon as the law was passed, the hogs and the hog problem went away. I don't understand it. I'm not at all opposed to pay a land owner some dough to hunt some hogs. I'd like to whack a few of em'.

We have a member here Boerrancher If I recall correctly. Has a ranch in Texas being overrun by feral hogs. At one time he had an invite out to come shoot all you want. I considered it because I have an aunt lives in his hometown, would be a good reason for a visit.
Edit: My bad not Boerrancher. But the member lives in Texas near Victoria Maybe someone else knows who it is.

According to a recent study, about 134 million acres, or 79 percent of the state total of 170 million acres, is feral hog habitat.

Finally, Real Numbers on Feral Hogs

One great myth about feral hogs is their actual numbers in Texas. A common number that has been bantered about for years is 1 to 4 million, but now Dr. Roel Lopez from Texas A&M University, using GIS, was able to quantify the extent of the feral hog habitat in Texas, and estimates that approximately 134 million acres, or 79 % of the state’s 170 million acres, represents feral hog habitat. By knowing the range of feral hog habitat and the species population density in various types of Texas environments, Lopez narrowed the population estimate to 1.9 million to 3.4 million.

Hogs sure are fun to hunt in the off season. I went out yesterday evening and had an opportunity for at least 2. Don't know how I missed the first one, but did get the 2nd and missed the 3rd. There were about 12-15 in the group. 2 large sows, at least one smaller sow and about a dozen shoats. They are wreaking havoc on the pastures. Hopefully having shot at them again, they'll move off for a few weeks or months,

That would be X101Airborne.

ShooterAZ, you do have some in the extreme northwest corner, you can come and hunt them for free!

I need to go out myself, it's not a far drive for me.

If you decide to come up this way, let me know!

Boerrancher lives in Sullivan Mo.

Now 101st Airbourn did have an invitation out there BUT that was before his dad took ill and he has been taking care of both places and is just to exhausted to spend any time near a puter.

Now you might want to talk to BS Jr and see if folks near him would let you help reduce their crop damages.

I understand they are rather fussy about so called experienced big game hunters.

Those folks have been known to use size 16 feet for target practice.:bigsmyl2:

Sorry Jr the devil  made me type that.
