I now have 28 paid orders for 311407 Mod. It is time to issue a last call and deadline date for the orders. I don't want to cut anybody off, so the last day of this month (September 05) will be the dead line.

For zip/postal codes of payments received and instructions see the other thread on 311407.

Haven't been able to find the info on this mold as yet. What thread would it be under?

Thanks Chargar

OK,

I read over the two threads I could find on it. Couple of questions if I could...

1. Most of my .30 cal rifles are .310 and under. Is there ample room in the lube grooves for sizing down to .311 or .312?

2. I gather the mold may cast out to 170gn w/WW's? or what was the final weight estimate?

The bullets is a clone of Lyman 311407 shortened just enough to work in the Lee six hole blocks. These Guy Loverin designed bullets have been around for many years and have proved to be sucessful designs. You will have no problems sizing this bullet down to where you want it. As to the final weight, all of this stuff is just as estimate, but you guess as to the weight of a gas check and lube is as good as mine. Somewhere around five grains is my SWAG.

311467 is one of the best 30 cal bullets around, and 311407 is just a flat nose version of that so it can be used in leverguns. The flat nose/meplat will also increase it's utility as a hunting bullets. 311467 has a nominal weight of 180, 411407 has a nominal weight of 175 and our estimate of our version will be in the 170 grain area.

311407 is one of the most sought after molds on the used market and last as long as spit on a hot griddle when they pop up. On Ebay they bring two or three times the price of other molds. This order is a way of getting some fresh molds out there at a price we can afford. A six hole mold will produce a pile of bullets in short order.

Working with Lee is always an iffy project. I guarentee nothing except a good design and an honest effort to hold Lee's feet to the fire to produce it to spec. More than that and we all share the risks of a project like this.

I won't make a dime on this. This is just an effort to get a much sought after mold to the troops. We also get the chance to have it made to the specs we have found out to be best and most useful. I have high hopes this bullet should do well in the .303 Brit, 7.65 Argentine, as well as Marlin MG barrels and traditional 30 cal applications. We will see.
