View Full Version : Confused about TC .50 Maxi Mold - Stamped "452"

Someone gave me a TC .50 Maxi mold... I received it and noted that the sprue plate is marked 50 Cal. However, I also noticed that the mold is stamped 452. I immediately assumed that I received a 45 cal mold with a sprue plate stamped 50 cal.

I finally got my calipers working (found a good battery), and found that the widest part of the mold is in fact .500.

Why would TC stamp 452 on a 50 Cal mold?! If that is their model number, it seems like a weird choice.

Thanks

Randy

452 is the block number.

Thanks - now I am trying to figure out the boolit weight is. Funny, there's not that much out there about TC molds.

Both my TC 50 cal Maxi Ball moulds drop them at 358 gr with 16-1 and 370 with 40-1.

Thanks Larry - that sounds good. I've been using .44 and .45 boolits in sabots, and think this will be a nice change.
