View Full Version : Kimber recoil spring in my RIA 1911

Is there any reason why I shouldn't put a 16lb full size Kimber recoil spring in my RIA Govt. 1911? I've got 3 of them and it would appear that WC and Wolff are sold out on most online sources.

If the load you are using will cycle the firearm with a 16# spring I dont think that your RIA will complain about having a Kimber spring in ti...

The 1911 was designed to work with a 16 lb spring, so should be fine if the spring is
for a 5" Kimber and yours is a 5" RI. Pretty much a 1911 is a 1911, with some exceptions
for silly mods like S&W putting a non-std extractor on theirs.

Once you get into short versions - none are JB designs so they are all over the map,
but 5" guns are pretty standard, with a few exceptions.
