I am thinking about a 300 BLK upper and would like a little help. I know I need a barrel but that's about all I know about 300 BLK's. Any suggestion would help. I have a very loanly complely finished 80% lower that needs a friend.

Do I need to change the bolt from a standard 5.56.
Do the 5.56 mags work with 300?
Do you fire form 5.56 brass.
Thanks Martin

Take a look over at 300blackouttalk.com

You only have to change the barrel.
Same bolt.
Mags work, mostly.
You trim then use sizing die to form brass (I just bought mine from brad`s warehouse)

Conversion to the 300 is just a barrel swap, and a flash hider/muzzle device since the threads on the .30 cal are 5/8 instead of the usual 1/2". All other 5.56 parts work. Most 5.56 mags work fine, though some folks have experienced problems with some of the brands out there. Read reviews and do your homework. There is some work to making the brass but it's not really that hard. The standard 5.56 case is trimmed to about the shoulder, reformed in a full length sizing die, trimmed to final length and deburred. All done. Lee dies are what I have used, but any reputable brand should work fine.
