if your gun is a 1/28 twist go with about a .451 or .452 300 grain bullet. if it is a 1/32 twist go same diam and a 250 grain bullet. others will shoot but these two with the twist i stated for them will be easy to work up a load on and be very accurate.

My 1-28" Omega likes the Harvester's Cruch ribs and the Lee 452-300. Its a gas checked wide nosed bullet. Just casted a bunch up Friday to use in the next couple of weeks when I go and shoot some paper patched 50 cal bullets and minis.

BTW, I have noticed that most modern day sabots work better with the largest bullet you can find. 480Ruger bullets, like LEE's 476-400 did very well with the sabots.

I just ordered that mold....do you put gas checks on it or just leave it bare...do you use any kind of lube or lubed wad with those sabots?

i don't think you need gas checks, the sabot makes the seal, at least thats my experience with the 452/230 bullet that I use. Ilube mine but I don't think its necessary.

There are several companies that make Black sabots, they very in thickness depending on manufacturer. I choose to use either a Smooth sided 333 gr LFN from a LBT mold or a 300 or 288 gr smooth sided from a BRP mold. and some times I use a smooth side 265 gr (XTP profile) from a custom mold I made.

NOE is thinking of offering the BRP 300 gr mold, I think there is a thread in the group buy section for it.

I have currently three black sabots in house, Nights, MMPs and Harvesters. I generally use Harvesters. might even have some TC cheap shoots in the box also.

I size my projectile if need be to get the proper load pressure that i want, I like a minimum of 40 pounds to seat combination down the bore.

Your mileage may very, but I make mine consistent.

I do not use gas checks on gas checked boolits when shooting them out of sabots. I get 1 3/4 " groups at 100yrds with a Ranch dog 290 gr flat point. I use it this year on a pig hunt and it was DRT.

The 400gr bullet is flat based.
I use the sabot dry. It loaded easily.
I haven't shot it allot, just a quick five late last year and think its good enough to tweak just a bit.

The Lee 452/300, I used without the GC. No need for one with a sabot.
This and the Lee 430/310 are the two best shooting "smaller" bullets in my Omega.
