Some of the mausers can be removed with punching out the crosspins. There are several of them that require you to depress the front of the ladder and somehow slide the ladder back to free up the sight assembly. Gent on the mauser central forum sold me a section of 1909 argentine barrel with the rear sight still attached. I have a small machinists vise hand and clamped the barrel stub in it and placed it on the floor. Then took a 8" straight blade screw driver and covered the tip with duck tape.Place the now duck taped screw driver blade on the ladder in the front. Take both hands and push down the ladder and then angle the screw driver and push the sight ladder towards the back of the barrel. First time I tried that it worked great. The duck tape give you some gripping surface to push down the ladder and it does not slip. Plus the tape doesn't scratch anything on the ladder. Frank
