I have the Lyman's 49th, but should I also have the Lyman's cast bullet 4th edition. I need something better for cast in rifle. Thanks

Ya, me too! Loaded a lot of cast in pistols, but rifle is pretty much new to me and I'm going cross-eyed searching threads and posts for information.

Try to find a 3rd edition if you can. The 4th is OK, with newer caliber loads but the 3rd is much more comprehensive in my opinion. Either will get you by though.

Look for Lyman manuals 40-41-42. The regular loading manuals. These books have cast data as well.

I agree. I have both but find I use the third edition more for the long guns.

Agreed, have the 4th, still looking for a 3rd. Venturino's "Shooting Leverguns of the Old West" is an entertaining and useful resource as well.
