Well I couldn't take it anymore , I had to re-handle my old Ideal 429352. The handles which were on it, are like none I have seen, and actually had the profile of chair spindles, or hammer handles.
I was always afraid of changing them, but out of necessity ( and a snowy morning here ) I did the deed.

Those new handles look good. Home made, or ? I bet the long ones were a PITA, kinda like tree trimming shears, huh?

Looks like you did a really nice job there! I can see why you wanted to get rid of the old ones...

Thanks.
Not sure what the story was with the old handles, but definently needed to go.

My thoughts are that if it took you more than about 30 seconds to decide the handles had to be changed, you are One Easy Going Guy!
The new ones look great!

I'd have just gone the simple route and cut off the old ones to normal length. Those long ones must have been a pain to use. Have to wonder why someone thought they needed them to be so long. If it was to keep away from the heat of the pot, they were running the pot way too hot.

I wonder if someone was trying to cast by putting lead in the mold, holding the mold over a wood fire until the lead melted, and then wondering why the mold did not completely fill?

Thats gotta be the funniest thing I will be picturing all week. Course if its -20F and you need meat on the table it would serve double duty.

Being lazy, I would have taken that mold to the table saw. . . . . .

But, they sure look nice.
