I fell I love with a new girl at the s. a tex gun show last week end. I told her she wood be mine. she is a little old for me but I don't mind she hasn't been out of her box . she was born in 1876 and is of 40-60 cal. now Thursday I get propositioned by a younger girl born 1885 and a 125 ave mode high wall in 45- 70. she swears she has only been with one box of shells. she then shows me some marks on the bottom of her but and says she is half of list price $750.00 of $1600.00 what wood you do?

Buy both and keep them separated so they never find out about each other.

First off, I reckon they're both lying about their ages. But on the bright side, they're probably both younger than their tags say they are.

sounds like a heck of a low dowery on the hiwall. personally I would definitely go the Hiwall direction as this is my favorite of the winchester line.

and I agree ... if you could afford to invite em both home with you ... the excitement would be perfect. you WOULD have to keep em apart tho as the cat fight would be an unhappy affair ... and IF they ever get to be together ... I would definitely not mumble a word to them on the dowery spent on each.

pictures man ... pictures!!! ... when you get the purty girls home ... send pictures of your good luck.

Winchester make very deep blue and real nice wood, I have wanted one for a long time . I guess great minds travel in the same tracks. I can get real worked up thinking of having both at the same time and they are so attractive at the price.

I called the guy up and said I wood take the high wall and pay with my plastic. in a word NOT! its a private gun no cc must be cash . well dang it all my well rehearsed responses and plans to retrieve under cover of the dark of the night just went out of the window. now I must make my plea to SHE WHO MUST BE PLACATED WITH NEW FURNITURE, NEW FLOORING AND A REMODEL OF THE KITCHEN. with a dollar cost averaging of 3 to 1 I guess I am getting off easy. and yes I am a repeat offender with many past transgressions that have come back to bite me- hard. wish me luck guys I am going to need it.

Uh, missed that night, I guess...but you can buy .45-70s all day long and there's less fun and challenge in loading and learning than if you saddle yourself with a 40-60.

Never shot the thing myself, but I had an affair with .45-75.

Same sort of thing.

BTW, I've been around the block with 45-70. Wonderful cartridge, so either way...

I had wanted to shoot long rang steal with them and a guy with a 40-60 had said it was 50/50 if it wood drop at 600 yards and the 45-70 will lay them low with yards to spar.

I think I missed that constraint.

I'd gather myself a .45-90 for that. (easy reamer job).

true that I had wanted a 1876 in 50-95 one from Dixie gun works just sold for a grand but I am with you on the reamer job it was floating around to covert it. there where some deals on 45-90 high walls with30 or 32 bbls cch $1100 to$1200 range they are marked black power only.

good one speedo66 I have made up my mind on the high wall 1st and the 1876 later as in after the complete remodel of the house for she who wood have me sleep with one eye open till I get this done. this will be 39 th year. the 45-70 will be fine for my needs for now[ shooting in the back yard]. if I get more time to make some of the steel matches at the rifle club I may ream it to 45-90 and yes my shoulder is bolted on. I had a good laugh when I got a chest x-ray last week ,I had quit smoking after 40+ years . the x-ray tech ran in the room and exclaimed do you know you have a large nail in your arm? I said yes I did. I put it in so I can shoot my sharps rifle, the look on her face was priceless.
