Hullo friends, I am getting older and want to try a Halo red dot type sight on the S&W & Ruger 44 mag. revolvers , recoil level-250gr. Boolits 19-20 gr of 2400 , 454 Casull with heavy loads of 296 w/ 320 gr boolits, so it is fairly stiff.[smilie=1:

1st question : are any of the Bushnell, Burris, leupold compatible with the revolvers , what mounting hardware needed?? I have looked into these 3 types, but could not find any info on what is needed to mount them on these revolvers ??:???:

2nd question : any experience with these scopes or others on 44 mag, 454 ?

3rd I am not stuck on any brand , just don't want to pay more for a scope than my revolvers are worth [smilie=1:

Thank you for any help , Jim

I was at the SHOT Show in Vegas and asked Leupold, Burris, UltraDot, C-More all the same questions about how their red dots would hold up when mounted on a Freedom Arms 454 Casull.
ALL told me they will work.
I also went to FA & discussed things with them. They agreed that the good quality red dots will survive handgunning.

You can buy them in the $200-$400 range & be assured they will work.

I ha an ultra dot on my Ruger black hawk .44 mag. I shot 100's of full power 300 gr. loads. I had no problems at all. The Ultradot I had was the nonadjustable 4 min. dot.

Can't speak to the dot scopes, but I have a Weaver installed on my Ruger SRH .454 Casull that has absorbed thousands of heavy loads with no problems.

I have a Burris Fast Fire on one of my .454 Taurus & a Red Dot with small dot & 6mm ring on a Ruger SRH. Both have had lots of hot rounds thru them with no problems.
