I have a Ruger Blackhawk in 30 cal carbine that has been converted to 300 GNR...which is essentially a 30 Herrett that will fit in a revolver. It will throw a 110 grain bullet in the 2000-2200 fps range.

What are my options for making jacketed 30 cal plinkers? I have 30 cal carbine brass as well as 380 brass....

Spare cylinder back to .30 carbine if you want to plink.

No thanks...I've had it reloading for a rimless cartridge that seats on the case mouth in a revolver. I did this more to get a rim than to get a hotter cartridge.

Find some spent 50 BMG primers for good 30 cal plinkers is a good option.

there is a guy on here that goes by 'Forrestr', he made some homemade dies that swage 22LR to 30 cal half jacket plinkers, i think they were 115gr or so but don't rememeber, genius! try a search for his thread on 30 cal plikers and he gives all the details including performance

I live a few hours from Camp Perry. There's a couple of 50 cal BMG reloading firms up there that I suspect would have spent 50 cal primers by the bucket full for the asking...those are prices I can handle.

Get a 30 carbine cylinder and use 32-20 brass.

Well, RCE has .32 cal jackets at .470" and they make fine little 100-120g plinkers in my dies. Cannot recall the OD off hand but they fit all my 30 cal dies so I'm sure they would fit yours too. You can pick up the herters or hornady cups pretty cheap from time to time on e-bay, but at .05/each you are hard pressed to beat anyone on bids that RCE cannot get you for less. That is what I use as a standard for my top bids, some times I get some sometimes not.
