Hi Folks. It's too cold to cast today so I took some photos instead. Hope it's of interest to someone. This one has the extractor. I've been having quite a bit of fun with it. I've been shooting a Lee 311-100-2R in front of 2400 but I haven't shot at anything farther than 35 yards. I'll get there. I hope to pick up a 115 gr flat nose before long.

I'm one of those nazi types when it comes to drilling (and bending bolt handles) on guns that didn't come that way but since someone did it before it got to my hands, does anyone recognize what mount this may use? The holes are about 1.65" ctc. Any chance that one of those Weaver mounts would fit on this? I know absolutely nothing about scopes or mounts so any info is welcome by me.

Thanks!

This looks like something similar to the K31 mount from Swiss Rifle Products.. Not the clamp on, but the one that you have to tap and drill.....

Here are the pics of the mount I am talking about.... May be you might be able to adapt the mount from swiss products to work with a a single hole drilled to the mount itself.... The K31 also has a top ejection, and the mount I am talking about fixes the problem...

98343 98343 98345 If you line up a single hole, and drill where the second hold lines up, you could have a winner.... This will also put the scope right over the top of the receiver, and still let you eject empties.... Something to think about.... feel free to PM me if you need more info on where to find the scope mount.....

Sweet. I wanted a .32-20 but don't regret the .30-30 I got.

Some of the old fashioned Weaver "T" mounts for their 3/4" scopes might fit those two holes. The hole spacing on the only ones I have is around 2.4" but I've seen them with shorter hole spacings.

another thought is the old Weaver side mount for the Savage 340 line of rifles, the same guy who bent your bolt may have D&T'd this for that mount.

Not sure where you'd get a hole spacing for it but you might try Brownells last time i looked they actually stocked the mount and both long and short "Rings" to fit it.

What a neat little rifle! An Octagon bolt gun how cool!

I have a scoped 340 in the safe if you'd like the C-C dimension.

Before I joined this site I'd never heard of that rifle; now this makes two I've seen here.

Were they ever imported to the US?

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I'll look into them. C. Latch, Simpsons sells quite a few of them, I got this from them. Most seen to be in so-so condition.

The 2 holes make me think of the old Mossberg side mounts that were on a lot of .22 rifles a long time ago. I have one on an old milsurp sporter to get around the old split bridge receiver scope problem. In fact it is one of these that I have: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-MOSSBERG-SONS-FACTORY-No-8-22-RIFLE-SCOPE-MOUNT-/271415736614?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f31a37926

wouldn't it be more logical to locate a second hole in the base rather then drilling more holes in the action

It would definitely be better to drill an extra hole in the side mount than drill the receiver. The T-mounts show up a gun shows a lot, often attached to the little 3/4" Weaver scopes. The tab for both is often less than $20.

An acquaintance had a couple of those Husqvarna bolt rifles, and also several Swedish rolling blocks. He said he had gotten all of them from an outfit called Buffalo Brothers of Phoenix, AZ. (At least I think that was the name at this remove.) He had to make extractors for all of the bolt rifles he had. He wanted to sell me one in .25-20 WCF. Nice rifle, but it shot a foot high at 50 yards with the iron sights.

I noticed on a couple of the cheaper 30/30's they have in stock they mentioned rough bores. I wonder if there would be any problems re-boring one of these to 30/35 cal.?
Looks like the bbls. have enough beef to them for a re-bore like that to clean them up.

I'm not really familiar with how they're set up to feed, would there be a problem there?

Oops, just realized i put this on an old thread lol. I got to this one via one of the links above.

I sure like the overall lines of the rifles and would love to have one with a clean bore in 30/30 or a 35 cal. conversion to get a good bore for cast shooting.
